Accomodation
For the first night, you can decide whether you’d like us to arrange your accommodation or prefer to book your own stay. If you choose our option, your confirmation email will include tailored choices in budget, mid-range, and luxury categories. If you prefer to arrange your own stay, we will send you the recommended location to ensure you stay close to the daily tour route. The second night’s accommodation in a traditional yurt is already included in the tour price, offering a unique cultural experience on the Great Plain.

Spring, Summer & Autumn Itinerary
Day 1 – Budapest to Debrecen
Departure from Budapest at 8:00am towards the Tisza Lake.
Morning boat tour on Tisza Lake to discover its unique wildlife and tranquil waters. Admission included.
Visit the Tisza Lake Ecocentre, showcasing the region’s natural treasures. Admission included.
Lunch in a local restaurant.
Continue to the Hortobágy National Park Visitor Center: explore the iconic Nine-Arch Bridge, ride the narrow-gauge train, visit the wildlife park and museum, and experience a traditional csikós horse show (if available). Admission included.
Late afternoon transfer to Debrecen for a short city sightseeing tour, including the Great Forest Park (Nagyerdő) and the historic main square.
Dinner in Debrecen’s city center.
Overnight: Debrecen
Day 2 – Debrecen to Ópusztaszer
In the morning, departure from Debrecen towards Gyula with 1–2 short scenic stops along the way.
Visit the historic Gyula Castle, one of Hungary’s best-preserved brick fortresses. Admission included.
Relax and refresh at the Gyula Castle Spa & Cave Bath, famous for its thermal waters. Admission included.
Explore the elegant Wenckheim Castle, a hidden architectural gem. Admission included.
Continue to Makó and stop at the Úti Lookout Tower for panoramic views over the endless Great Plain.
Arrive at Ópusztaszer National Heritage Park, where history and tradition come alive.
Overnight: Ópusztaszer, in a traditional yurt, just like the ancient Hungarians once lived. Accomodation included. Available from April to the end of October.
Day 3 – Ópusztaszer to Budapest
Morning visit at the Ópusztaszer National Heritage Park: discover Hungary’s ancient history, the iconic Feszty Panorama, open-air village museum, and interactive cultural exhibitions. Admission included.
Challenge yourself in the Ópusztaszer Labyrinth, a fun and unique experience in nature. Admission included.
Lunch in Ópusztaszer.
Afternoon departure back to Budapest.
Arrival in the late afternoon, marking the end of your Great Plain Hungary Journey.
