For a first visit, District V offers the easiest access to the river and central landmarks. Districts VI and VII bring cafés, restaurants and a livelier atmosphere, while Buda feels calmer and more residential.

Is Budapest worth visiting?+
Absolutely. Budapest combines monumental architecture, thermal bath culture, excellent food, lively neighbourhoods and one of Europe’s most beautiful riverfronts.
Is Budapest safe?+
Budapest is generally a very safe city. Normal city precautions apply, particularly around crowded public transport and major tourist areas.
What currency should I use?+
Hungary uses the Hungarian Forint. Cards are widely accepted. If a terminal offers currency conversion, paying in HUF usually gives the better exchange rate.
How do I reach the centre from the airport?+
The 100E airport bus runs directly to central Pest. Taxis and private transfers are more comfortable for groups, families or travellers with luggage.
Are Budapest’s thermal baths worth it?+
Yes. Thermal bathing is part of the city’s identity, not simply another attraction. Széchenyi is iconic, while Rudas and Lukács offer different atmospheres.
How much should I tip?+
About 10% is customary when service is not already included. Always check the bill for a service charge before adding a separate tip.
