Day 1 – Budapest to Eger
Departure from Budapest at 9:00am and get ready to start the authentic Northern Hungary Tour.
Stop at the elegant Gödöllő Palace, former residence of Queen Sisi. Admission included.
Continue to Hollókő, a UNESCO-listed Palóc village with charming wooden porches and folk traditions. Admission included.
Lunch in Hollókő at a traditional local restaurant.
Drive up to Kékestető, Hungary’s highest peak, and visit the TV Tower for sweeping views. Admission included.
Short stop at Egerszalók to see the famous natural salt pools and terraced springs.
Arrive in Eger and visit the historic Castle of Eger, known for the Turkish siege. Admission included.
Optional add-on: climb the Eger Minaret for panoramic views of the baroque old town (admission not included).
Evening wine tasting in Szépasszonyvölgy (Valley of the Beautiful Woman): 1 cellar visit with 3–5 selected wines included.
Dinner and an evening stroll through the charming streets of Eger.
Overnight: Eger
Day 2 – Eger to tokaj
Morning departure from Eger, with a scenic stop at the Szarvaskő Lookout Point, offering panoramic views of the Bükk Mountains.
Continue to Szilvásvárad and follow the forest trail through the Szalajka Valley, one of Hungary’s most beautiful nature areas.
Highlights include:
• Fátyol Waterfall (Veil Waterfall)
• Prehistoric Cave
• Trout ponds and forest paths
Afternoon drive to Aggtelek National Park for a guided cave tour, exploring the UNESCO-listed karst cave system on a 1 hour guided tour. Admission included.
Evening transfer to Tokaj, the most famous wine region in Hungary, where you will check in to your accommodation.
- Overnight: Tokaj
Day 3 – Explore tokaj wine region
- Morning dedicated to relaxation and wellness in the heart of Northern Hungary. Unwind in a thermal spa or enjoy the wellness facilities of your accommodation.
- Afternoon wine experience in Hungary’s most renowned wine region, Tokaj. Visit a traditional wine cellar and taste 5–6 carefully selected wines, including the world-famous Tokaji Aszú.
- Learn about the centuries-old winemaking traditions and the unique volcanic terroir that makes Tokaj wines so special.
- Evening leisure time to stroll through the charming town of Tokaj or enjoy a relaxed dinner paired with local wines.
Day 4 – Tokaj to Budapest
Morning departure from Tokaj and transfer to the Zemplén Adventure Park for optional activities such as:
• Chairlifts for panoramic rides above the forest
• Alpine Coaster & the longest Zipline in Hungary called Falcon (Sólyom) for a thrilling descent.
• Bridge of National Unity (Nemzeti Összetartozás Hídja), the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in Europe
Attractions can be purchased separately on-site (admission not included, up to personal preferences).Continue to the Regéc Castle ruins, once an important stronghold in the Zemplén Mountains. Admission included.
Afternoon visit to Boldogkő Castle, perched dramatically on a volcanic hilltop with sweeping views of the surrounding valleys. Admission included.
Farewell dinner in a medieval-style knight’s restaurant located at the foot of the castle, offering traditional dishes in an authentic atmosphere.
Evening return transfer to Budapest, marking the end of your Northern Hungary Tour.
